Payment

Payment: We ask that you pay a deposit when you make your booking, and rest of payment locally to the rental station.

The following forms of payment are generally accepted:

ACCEPTED: Visa, MasterCard, Diners, AMEX

NOT ACCEPTED: Debit cards, Pre-paid cards, Revolut cards, Laser, Maestro, Switch cards, Cards with installment-based repayment, Cards issued by online-only banks, Checks, Cash

Τhe card must be in the name of the person making the booking. The card must be issued by a physical bank and should have embossed numbers. The customer must have the PIN, and the card must be enabled for online payments. Cards with dual functionality (DEBIT and credit) will be considered debit cards, so they won’t be accepted. The card used should also be valid for at least six months from the end of the rental period. The credit card should be issued in the same country as the customer’s residence.

A valid credit card (whereas accepted) in the name of the main driver must be presented as guarantee for the rental. Our local car rental partner may reserve an amount of 700-3.000 Euro (depending on your selected car group) as guarantee, which will be released after the end of the rental period if no damage/theft has occurred.

In the event that you fail to present a valid credit or debit card (whereas accepted) card or lack of sufficient funds available on the credit card, car rental agent may refuse to release the vehicle. In these instances, no funds paid will be reimbursed.

Driver and Licence Requirements

All driving licences which have been issued within the European Community and UK will be accepted.

All other national driving licences must be accompanied by a valid International Drivers Permit (IDP) in English.

The local driving license must always be physically present in its original form.

Drivers must have held a full licence for a minimum of 1 year.

Drivers must also show their passport or national ID card on collection as additional proof of identity.

The identity document must be physically presented in its original form and be valid for at least six months from the end of the rental period.

Documents such as the passport, ID card, and driver’s license must be issued by the same country.

Heavily damaged or hard-to-read documents will not be accepted.

Minimum age: 25 years, maximum age: 80 years.

Extra charge of 15,00€ per rental day for drivers aged 18-24 years only for car groups A,A1,B1,C,D,D1,H,H1,J,J1,J1A,JA,J2A.

Minimum age: 25 years, for car groups J3A,J4,M1,P,PA.

Car types

Reservations are always confirmed for a given Car Group -not for a specific car model- The car on your voucher represents the vehicle for the class (Group) you have booked. We cannot guarantee a specific make or model. Any specific cars mentioned are simply typical examples of the size, specifications and performance applying to that car group.

State/Border Restrictions

Cross border rentals are allowed in the following countries: Andorra, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and United Kingdom with Cross border fee 35,00 Euro per rental. For car categories J4,M1,P,PA, the cross border fee is 50,00 Euro per rental.

Cross border rentals are allowed in the following countries: Austria, Hungary and Netherlands with Cross border fee 150,00 Euro per rental.

Ferry travel

Ferry travel is permitted within Italy and abroad only after coordination with Autounion Italy and as long as the destination country is allowed in the driving abroad policy.

One-way Rentals

One-way rentals are allowed between specific locations and vise versa with an extra charge:

Office Cernusco sul Naviglio Milan (Villa Fiorita) to Milan Hotel is free of charge.

Como Office to Como Hotel is free of charge.

One-way rentals are not allowed from or to Catania Fontanarossa Airport.

Collection Time

Vehicles will only be held available for up to 1 (one) hour after the agreed collection time, clients must contact us if they will arrive before or after the registered time on the voucher.

Included in your booking cost:

Mileage Allowance - Unlimited

The Vehicle is provided with unlimited kilometers.

Taxes & Surcharges

Bookings include all local taxes.

1st Additional Drivers

First additional driver is free of charge. From the second additional driver onwards an additional charge applies of 10,00€ per day per driver. Minimum age restrictions apply.

NOT INCLUDED:

Highway tolls are NOT included and paid locally by client.

Fines and Penalties

You are responsible for the cost of any parking fines or other penalties incurred whilst the Vehicle is on rent to you. The supplier will pass the relevant charge onto you plus 50,00€ plus tax for administration fee.

Road Assistance Coverage: 5,00€ per rental day (provided 24 hours)

In case of an accident and driver's fault will be charged 250,00€ - 500,00€.

Winter tyres / Snow Chains:

Winter tyres or snow chains are provided from 15 November to 15 April and included in the rates.

Fuel Policy: Full to Full

In the event that you return the car with less fuel quantity you will be charged the value of the missing fuel plus Refuelling Service fee of 40,00€ plus tax.

Out of Hours Charge

Out of hours service is available only in Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport with an extra charge of 50,00€ per service.

For all the other airport locations (Milan Linate Airport, Milan Malpensa Airport, Catania Fontanarossa Airport, Venice Airport Marco Polo) we provide outside of bussiness hours services only with prior notice via telephone call and confirmation of availability by our local branch in Italy. The surcharge is 100,00 €/ per service.

Special Request items are available On Request and if applicable are Subject to Availability and Seasonal Variation, and will be provided by location. Special requests cannot be guaranteed. For most locations a security deposit is generally required.

Baby Seats /Child Seats /Booster Seats : 10,00€ per day

Baby Seats, Child Seats, Booster Seats are available with an extra charge of 10,00€ per day with max charge of 70,00€

Navigation System : 10,00€ per day

Navigation System is available with an extra charge of 10,00€ per day with max charge of 100,00€

Insurance

The customer understands that all insurance cover is provided by the company supplying the vehicle for rental and not Autounion car rental. Liability for claims in excess of the insurance cover purchased rests with the hirer of the vehicle. Autounion car rental does not provide insurance cover of any kind in relation to the hire of the vehicle and is not liable for damages incurred in the event of an accident.

Excess amounts

1500€ for groups A,A1,B1, 1800€ for groups C,H,H1, 2100€ for groups D1,J1, 2300€ for groups D,J,J1A,JA,J2A, 2400€ for group J3A, 3000€ for groups M1,P, 6000€ for groups J4,PA.

Deposit amounts at pick up

700€ for groups A,A1,B1,C,H,H1, 1000€ for groups D1,J,J1, 1300€ for groups D,J1A,JA,J2A, 1800€ for groups J3A,M1,P, 3000€ for groups J4,PA.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with excess amount:

Is included in the booking cost and reduces the financial liability up to a maximum of: 1500€ for groups A,A1,B1, 1800€ for groups C,H,H1, 2100€ for groups D1,J1, 2300€ for groups D,J,J1A,JA,J2A, 2400€ for group J3A, 3000€ for groups M1,P, 6000€ for groups J4,PA.

CDW does not provide any coverage concerning damages provoked at the underside part of the vehicle, inside part of the vehicle-saloon, wind shields, mirrors and tires. Basic condition is that the damage is not due to infringement of Italy Road Circulation Code. The Accident Statement should always be supplemented so that the insurances’ covers will be in effect. In case of car accident and damages police report is mandatory. Without police report the client takes full responsibility.

In case of accident, the client must contact the police and report the incident immediately, and submit a copy of the police report, the rental agreement to the rental location. CDW protection does not apply beyond the rental date agreed with the pickup location. For details of this insurance, please check with the supplier on collection of the vehicle.

Theft & Fire Protection with excess amount:

2800€ for groups A,A1, 3000€ for group B1, 3200€ for group C, 3500€ for groups H,H1, 3800€ for groups D1,J1, 4000€ for groups J,J1A,JA,J2A, 4300€ for group D, 4500€ for group J3A, 5000€ for groups M1,P, 7000€ for groups J4,PA.

Additional Insurances

FULL DAMAGE WAIVER (FDW)

FDW limits the liability in case of accidents to €0 (Zero) by paying the daily amount of:

WHEELS,UNDERSIDE,GLASS(WUG) :

AutoUnion Car rental provides an optional insurance which covers damages to wheels, tyres, glasses or damages caused to the underside of the car as far as they were not done intentionally or as a result of negligence or oversight. This is available by paying the daily amount of:

For car groups: A,A1,B1,C,D,D1,H,H1,J,J1,J1A,JA,J2A 10,00€, for car groups J3A,J4,M1,P,PA 25,00€.

Exceptions in CDW, FDW, WUG:

Charges for any of the damages written below will be charged directly to the client, the most important are the following: Antenna, trays, damage to car lock, loss or damage to keys, windshield wipers, interior of the car, spare key and car jack, hubcap, lights, gas cap, damage to upholstery of a car, damages to the roof, damages caused by roof rack and any luggage on it, extreme dirtiness in the car, personal belongings in a rented car, damage due to negligence, fuel errors, damage to child seats and baby seats, lack of electricity because of forgotten turned on electrical devices, loss of car documents, loss of registration plate. The car rental company, in any case, is not obligated to replace a flat tyre or damages in music devices (radio, CD/mp3 player, etc.)

Autounion car rental will not refund any telephone, taxi or hotel costs.

Towing costs are not covered by any insurance

Autounion car rental or the car rental company will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, causing willful damage, off road driving, driving without care and attention or damages caused by negligence and traffic violations.

The client will accept direct responsibility in respect of such claims.

Any unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle may be interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge to the client.

Renter’s Obligation:

The vehicle should be used only by the renter or other additional drivers mentioned on the rental agreement. The vehicle is prohibited to be used, for infringement of provisions of the Italy Road Circulation Code, for purposes opposite to the Croatia laws, for towing other vehicles, in order to transport heavy objects or baggage.
